The first use of recycled materials at Apple came to be, when it first brought up recycled gold that was certified. Apple has also doubled up the amount of cobalt, tungsten and other rare earth elements in recycled form, for use in products.
An Innovator In The Recycling Space
In order to pace up efforts to bring onboard more recycled materials, Apple announced Taz, a machine seen as an innovation for recycling. It uses a cutting-edge approach that helps improve material recoveries from recycling of electronics. The tech player has also claimed that close to half of aluminum that it used across its products came from sources that are recycled. Some products, in 2021 alone, saw use of 100 percent aluminum.
No More Plastic
What’s even better news is that the company has targeted ditching all plastic across all its packaging by 2025. In 2021, Apple claims to just employ 4 per cent plastic in its packaging. The popular tech product player has also talked about its innovation in recycling as well as progress in its targets for the clean energy sector, in the Environmental Progress Report for 2022.Apple Pay recently partnered with the World Wildlife Fund to enable its customers and users to contribute to the organization. This is being touted as a way to celebrate World Earth Day, Apple says. The maker of the iPhone already engaged in producing content and resources that allows apple users value Mother Nature while also actively understanding and supporting causes such as climate change.
Carbon Neutrality On Cards
Besides charting progress across recycling-based innovations as well as material stewardship, Apple’s Environmental Report stressed on its work in becoming a carbon neutral brand. It has similarly progressed in reducing waste while ensuring safe use of product material across the global supply chins for products. The net emissions from Apple’s end remained flat since 2021 while it has been tagged carbon neutral since 2020.
The best part here is that across all its offices and hubs, Apple relies on renewable energy wholly since ten years 2018. All of this is worth raising a toast to, after all!
